In our humble opinion, whale watching is a must-do activity for anyone visiting Iceland. There's something about being out on the open water, scanning the horizon for these majestic creatures, which is slightly addictive... We've just learnt about a new book, dedicated to these massive mammals; 'Whales' (Hvalir in Icelandic) is by artist Jón Baldur Hlídberg and writer Sigurdur Aegisson. The book focuses on whales found in the North Atlantic Ocean and has been released in both Icelandic and English.
Each species is covered in detail with pictures highlighting the main physical features, habits and similar species.
The book also contains general information about whales, including the species found in the seas around Iceland and those that can be spotted during whale watching tours. The book can be used both as a guide while whale watching and also for general reference.
The book is available in bookstores in Iceland and on www.forlagid.is.
