A completely new type of volcano has been discovered in Iceland. Researchers have made this unique discovery after they found two new rift zones on the Reykjanes ridge. A leading Icelandic geologist is now claiming that this is the most significant geological discovery in the last 40 years.

To see a volcano erupt is one of the most fascinating natural wonders of the world as our Managing Director Clive Stacey experienced first hand:
"I’ve been lucky enough to see a volcano erupt – it was when Krafla in the Myvatn region erupted. I happened to be in the area when it happened and arrived there after dark. We travelled slowly by jeep to the edge of the lava flow and only a short distance from one of the vents which was spewing out lava. Thankfully it was a rather calm eruption (if you can call a volcanic eruption that!) and we stood there watching the stream of lava hardening in front of us….and then the northern lights came out….not bad, not so bad at all!" - Clive Stacey, Discover the World
