(start dribbling!)
If you love your food and you've tried all the fantastic gourmet hotspots in Reykjavik, it's worth visiting the wonderful Fjöruborðið (At the Seashore) lobster restaurant based in Stokkseyri, just a 45-minute drive from Reykjavik and well worth the scenic drive!
Fjöruborðið has a unique ambience and is famous for its delicious lunchtime lobster soup made with cream and tomatoes, which they say is magical and apparently people risk their lives in bad weather en route to the village for just a few spoonfuls! In addition there is the restaurant’s speciality - Lobster feast, a
huge pot of village lobster tails grilled in garlic butter, served with delicious bread and sauces - a must have and available in 300g and 400g. The trimmings come served in long wooden boats crammed with couscous, grilled vegetables, potatoes and fresh green salad...
Other delicacies include fillet of lamb baked in the oven and beef carpaccio from south coast ox served with mozzarella, greens and tomatoes. Oh and we can’t forget the seashore, where you can sip champagne next to a warm fire on the beach. A great way to end a meal…unless you eye up the dessert stand! Our favourite is the heavenly homemade mars bar meringue (try saying that after a few glasses of champagne!) and it is seriously too good for words!!!
