Six self-service check-in machines are now available at Keflavik International Airport for departing passengers with Icelandair. Passengers can now choose whether to check-in themselves in less than one minute and select their own seat number, or check in at the counter in the traditional way.
The new machines are so-called "single airline" machines which means that only Icelandair passengers can use them. Icelandair is the only flight operator currently providing this service. Airport staff will be available for passengers using the machines, incase assistance is needed. After checking in, an Icelandair employee receives the passenger's luggage at a special fast-bag drop off. Passengers only carrying hand luggage can proceed directly to the departure lounge on the airport's second floor.
