With Karen taking a break from the UK, we didn’t want to dissapoint by not continuing her insightful blog so will be adding plenty of snipppets to get your teeth into over the next few weeks. The first update regards New Zealand’s first Slow Town development in the North Island, with Matakana island as the focus.
The slow town movement began in Italy and involves residents living off the land, buying things locally and caring about their town and the people in it. The Matakana Village development, located an hour's drive from Auckland on the North Island, is well under way and will offer a farmers' market, local butcher and a boutique cinema.
Sounds like a great idea to encourage a nice natural way of living. thanks. Alexis

Hi there
Good to hear that Matakana Island is the place for you. If I was living in New Zealand, I think just about anywhere would be good for me! If you want to swap for sunny Surrey, UK then let me know!
thanks
Karen
